Fried Cheese or “Smažený sýr”
Fried cheese is one of the most popular pub food in Czech Republic. You can find it on the menu mostly every restaurant. It’s cheap and you can easily make it at home, only need a few ingredients.

I love cheese and I like fried food so this menu it’s will be one of my choice to treat myself to crunchy melted cheese.
Ingredients.
Cheese - with Czech recipe they prefer to use Edam or Camembert. Or you can use cheddar and mozzarella it's also as good as a Czech recipe. Sliced about half of an inch thick.
Bread crumbs - with classic Czech recipe used fine bread crumbs. You can get it from the store for saving time. If you keep some dry old white bread you can use Greater or a food processor to make your own breadcrumbs.
Flour - plain flour
Egg - if you cook for kids who had egg allergies I suggested to used flour mixed with water instead.
Vegetable oil - is good for frying food. It has a high smoke point, which means it can withstand a high temperature before it starts to burn.

Cook time: 20 minutes

Field cheese ingredients. |
- 4 slice of Edam cheese.
- 1/2 cup plain flour.
- 2 eggs.
- 1 cup of bread crumbs.
- 1/2 cup of vegetables oil.
How to make Fried cheese “ Smažený sýr”
- In a bowl whisk the eggs with a pinch of salt.
- Coated a slice of cheese with plain flour then Dip it in the eggs and coat it again with the breadcrumbs.
- And do the same with the rest of the cheese.
- In a frying pan over medium heat, heat up the oil. Place the breaded cheese in the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until it turns golden brown.
- Serve the cheese when it’s still hot.

The fried cheese is normally served with potatoes and tartar sauce or with chips and salads. with the Camembert cheese usually served with cranberry sauce.
